Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of Position :


Under direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, receives instruction and training to acquire the practical knowledge and skills necessary to meet the State Board's requirements for licensure Performs services as a Pharmacist under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist including prescription preparation, patient interaction and inventory management.


Examples of Typical Tasks :
1. Receives instruction in Pharmacy practice, fills prescriptions and dispenses medication in accordance with prescribed procedures.
2. Assists in par-stocking of I.V. additives or unit dose program, and in interpreting Physician's original drug orders.
3. Compounds, manufactures and stores drugs and pharmaceuticals in accordance with good manufacturing practice and standard procedures.
4. Assists in inspections of medicine stations and drug refrigerators.
5. Maintains appropriate records.
6. Performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Valid Pharmacy Limited (Intern) Permit issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
